Features

Everything OnCrest does.

Eleven features built on one idea: a guide back to your own intent. Three layers of intervention. Five behavioral states. Nothing leaves your device.

03 / THE SPINE HOW ONCREST INTERVENES

Three layers, each lighter than the last.

Every feature on this page lives inside one of three escalation layers. Soft nudge first. Honest check-in if the pattern continues. Hard block only when you ask.

Layer 01 · Earliest

Soft reminder

Non-blocking corner toast. No required response. Leaves no mark on the dashboard.

Soft reminder: a subtle corner toast on a real tab, no required response
Layer 02 · If pattern continues

Regret dialog + intent replay

One question, two buttons. Replays the intent you wrote at the start of the session.

Regret dialog: overlay asking 'Did you mean to be here?' with the user's intent replayed
Layer 03 · User-initiated only

Lockdown

Hard block for a chosen duration. No bypass. Always opt-in, never automatic.

Lockdown mode: full-page block with countdown and the user's intent visible

04 / FOUNDATION FEATURES 01 + 08

Your sentence becomes the reference point.

Before anything else, you write what you're trying to accomplish today — in your own words, as a sentence. Later, when OnCrest checks in, it replays that sentence back. Specificity over categories. Your words, not ours.

Intent input: a single text field where you write what you're trying to accomplish Intent replay: the same sentence shown back inside the regret dialog hours later

05 / SITE TREATMENTS FEATURES 05 + 07

Less surface area, less pull.

Two features that remove the parts of a page designed to extend your session beyond what you came for.

YouTube · default vs. Focus mode

youtube.com — default YouTube default layout with recommendations, Shorts shelf, and autoplay
youtube.com — Focus mode on YouTube with Focus mode: recommendations, Shorts, and autoplay removed

Content blur · before vs. after

content site — default Content site without blur: all thumbnails and headlines visible
content site — blur on Content site with blur: thumbnails and headlines obscured to reduce pull

06 / INSIGHT FEATURE 03

Your pattern, without the score.

A read-only record of what happened: when interventions fired, how you answered the regret dialog, which states fired most often. No streaks. No badges. Stored locally only.

Pattern dashboard showing intervention history, regret dialog answers, and top triggers

07 / SIGNALS FEATURE 10

The six behavioral states.

Each state has a precise definition and a detection method that uses only local browser events — no page content, no URL analysis beyond domain level.

State · 01

Doom scroll

When you scroll fast through a feed without engaging with any single thing — the autopilot "just keep scrolling" state.

scroll velocity ↑
intentional clicks → 0
State · 02

Binge loop

When you start several videos or articles back-to-back without finishing any. The "one more" loop.

N+ consecutive items
no significant pause
State · 03

Drift session

An extended stretch on a distraction during work hours — the slow, quiet drift away from what you meant to be doing.

State · 04

Tab thrash

Rapidly switching back and forth between work and distraction. A sign of avoidance, not multitasking.

>8 switches / 90s
<30s per tab
State · 05

Autopilot landing

Arriving on a site without consciously deciding to — typing it in by reflex, or opening it in a new tab without thinking.

State · 06

Stress relapse

Jumping to a distraction immediately after closing a work tab, finishing a meeting, or hitting a tough moment.

08 / ROADMAP FEATURE 09

Built-in timers — Future Release.

Planned · not in alpha

Pomodoro and custom intervals from the extension popup. Will integrate with Lockdown and Focus mode. Sequenced after behavioral detection stabilizes.

09 / PRIVACY FEATURE 11

Nothing leaves your device.

Behavioral counts, your intent text, and a random install UUID — all stored locally. Nothing is sent unless you opt in to anonymous analytics, and that opt-in can be revoked any time.
